Frame drumming workshop with Tim Byford

The beautiful resonant frame drum is considered to be one of the oldest instruments on the planet.

Its full bodied sound means that it is ideally suited to being used as a solo instrument, as an accompaniment to voice, in a group of drums or as an accompanying instrument to small musical ensembles.

This introductory workshop is ideally suited to beginners, whether as a stand alone experience or a gateway to deeper study.

You will learn:

·      the fundamental hand stokes from the Middle Eastern/North African Tradition.

·    playing with others to create rhythms.

·      working with the drum musically.

·      simple rhythmic patterns and how to achieve fluency.

Research indicates drumming can produce a range of surprising psychological and physiological benefits including stress reduction, strengthening of the immune system and even higher IQ.

More anecdotally drum practitioners report that playing the drums is highly enjoyable.

Tim Byford Started playing drums in his teens. He is a Music Graduate and currently works as a community musician, teacher and sound healer.
