Create your own singing bowl with Ton and Carolina

Join us for four days of metal work, meditation and laughter.  Return home at the end of the course with a jewel of a resonant bowl that is uniquely yours. Simple copper-smithing techniques are taught, no experience or extraordinary strength is required—merely a willingness to engage, to connect and to swing a light hammer (a thousand times!).  All tools are provided, Working with an intention that you choose, you will cut and file, fire and clean, pound and polish.  Your bowl will emerge in the process of pounding the metal in a spiral—in to out, out to in (repeat…)  Pick up a hammer and find the rhythm in physical work and in your body; hear the beat of the workplace, and discover the song in your (soul) bowl.

This is connection.......   when you lose yourself in the flow of the task.  When you hold your attention on your intention and just see what arises.  When you get out of your own way.  Time glides by (or sometimes, not), and hammer in hand you feel it meet the metal and metal is held by wood.  Each hammer strike is another piece of the spiral going in and coming out and slowly a bowl takes form.

Ton Akkermans and Carolina Schomper will be here in July from Holland. These four days provide a unique opportunity to engage with the physical skills of bowlmaking and the joy of the craft.       You will explore the inner terrain of working with intention and meeting yourself as you create your own bowl.  An alchemical process of wonder.

Cost:  £420, excluding materials (usually £10-25, depending on your ambition). Includes teas/coffees and a simple lunch. There are now only four places left so please book as soon as you can.
